The 30-year-old announced her retirement from tennis last December. During her career, Ivanovic won a total of 15 WTA titles and featured in the final of three grand slam tournaments. Her biggest achievement occurred at the 2008 French Open when she defeated Dinara Safina to claim the title. Becoming the first Serbian woman to win a grand slam title after the dissolution of Yugoslavia.
Ivanovic now lives in Chicago with her partner Schweinsteiger, who plays for football team Chicago Fire F.C. The two married in 2016, a couple months before Ivanovic announced her retirement from tennis.
Since stepping away from the sport, Ivanovic has kept herself busy with other activities. Such as skiing for the first time in her life and appearing on the front cover of Harper’s Bazaar in Germany. In June she told reporters that she has no regrets about quitting sport when she did.
“There were so many factors that influenced that decision for me. It’s been now almost six months. I do not regret it.” She said earlier in the year.
“I am very happy where I’m at at the moment, and I’m still learning a lot. I want to improve. I want to share everything I have learned. I think it was the right time for me.” “I do miss it sometimes. It’s never easy. It’s been my whole life. But I really enjoy my time not having to have every day a schedule made for me and having a little bit more freedom.”
