Caroline Garcia edged out Elina Svitolina 6-7(7) 6-3 7-5 in a classic encounter as Caroline Wozniacki took control of the red group with a 6-0 6-2 victory over world number one, Simona Halep.

For the second time in two weeks Garcia edged out a tough Svitolina with an epic victory that lasted just under the three hour mark.

Their last meeting was in Beijing, where Garcia won in a similar battle as history repeated itself in Singapore as Svitolina lost another emotionally charged battle.

Both players shared breaks in the first set as they tried to overpower each other on this extremely slow Singapore indoor surface.

The first set went to a tiebreak as both players made tactical errors in the first set. In the tiebreak Garcia had set points however some poor decision making at the net cost her the set as the Ukrainian took the tiebreak 9-7.

Despite being an emotional mess the world number eight came back strong in the second set as she secured her second break of the set for a 4-2 lead in the sixth game. Garcia managed to keep her composure to secure the second set 6-3 and force a deciding set.

The final set saw both players share breaks in the early stages as Svitolina struggled to target the Garcia backhand throughout the match.

Despite having the most opportunities to break it was Svitolina who broke for a crucial 5-3 lead to ensure the set would be in her hands.

However one thing that Svitolina has been criticised for is her lack of mental fortitude and this once again cost her during the match.

The Ukranian lost four games in a row as Garcia served out the match to seal an epic victory. The win means that the world number eight still has a fighting chance to make the Semi-Finals.

“It was an incredible and I am just happy to be through. I just kept believing once again.” said Garcia who looked tired after a magnificent victory.

Earlier on in the day Caroline Wozniacki ensured her passage into the Semi-Finals with a stunning 6-2 6-0 victory over world number one Simona Halep.

The Dane broke five times as she beat 2014 champion Halep in a match that lasted just over the 60 minute mark.

Halep expressed her disappointment after the match, “I think it was one of my bad days.  I made too many mistakes and she didn’t miss. So I think I played both sides.  Also I did some good shots, good points, and I missed too many to win a match.”

On Friday Simona Halep, Caroline Garcia and Elina Svitolina can all join Caroline Wozniacki in the Semi-Finals of Singapore. Here are the scenarios for Friday’s matches:
