British tennis player Laura Robson has said that she is ‘in shock’ after a major shooting incident occurred at a concert she was attending in Las Vegas.
A gunman opened fire on a crowd attending an open-air country music festival. According to the police, the gunman fired at the crowd from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel, which is located on the Las Vegas strip. At least 20 people have been killed and over 100 injured in the attack.
According to American media reports, the attack was by a lone gunman called Stephen Paddock. The 64-year-old has since been killed by police and a search is underway to locate his roommate.
Robson was at the concert, but was not injured. Writing on Twitter, the former world No.27 said in one Tweet that she initially assumed that the noise was due to fireworks.
“I’m okay. We were right there.. sounded like fireworks at first then everyone started running. Scary shit.” She wrote to one person who Tweeted to her.
She also wrote that one of her friends was helping those injured in the shooting. Although, that tweet by the Brit has since been deleted for an unknown reason.
“My friend who was deeper in the crowd has been helping people who were shot. We’re all in shock.”
The 23-year-old is currently in America playing in a series of ITF events. Last week she reached the quarter-finals of an ITF $60,000 event in Templeton, California. Robson, who has won one ITF title this season, is currently ranked 249th in the world.
