Feliciano and Marc Lopez (zimbio)

The Men’s Doubles Final will take place between Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau as they take on Feliciano and Marc Lopez. Rojer and Tecau beat Henri Kontinen and John Peers 1-6 7-6(5) 7-5. While the Spaniard’s beat the Bryan brothers 3-6 6-3 6-4.

The first Semi-Final saw top seeds and Australian Open champions Henri Kontinen and John Peers take on the formidable team of Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau. The first set saw the top seeds, who have won 30 matches on tour, storm into a 5-0 lead as John Peers displayed a masterclass at the net. Henri Kontinen’s big serving also helped them to grab the first set 6-1.

The second set saw a tighter affair as big serving from Rojer earnt more opportunities for the 12th seeds. Both teams produced moments of magic and held on to take the second set into a tiebreak. It looked like the top seeds would win in straight sets, however double faults from John Peers occurred and the Dutch-Romanian duo took the tiebreak 7-5.

The third set saw momentum favour Rojer and Tecau who went up an early break as they started to look the more dangerous and formidable on serve. However a moment of genius from Henri Kontinen saw the top seeds gain the break back for 3-3. However John Peers started to look tired and in the 11th game his serve got weaker and that proved costly as they were broken to 15. The 12th seeds then served the match out to entered the men’s doubles final in an epic battle. They will now compete for their second grand slam as a team.

The second Semi-Final saw Feliciano and Marc Lopez take on legendary doubles team Bob and Mike Bryan. The first set was a close affair however despite a number of break points created by the Spaniards it was the fifth seeded Americans who grabbed the first set 6-3 in an entertaining opening set.

The second set was no different in how tight the match was as the Spaniards started to become more tactical against the Bryan brothers. They started to emotionally involve themselves in the match and they received their rewards when they broke in the eight game for a 5-3 lead. They closed out the set to level the match at one set all.

The Spaniard’s were obviously inspired and had momentum on their side as they broke in the fifth game for a 3-2 lead. The American’s serve was too predictable and Feliciano had an amazing final set as they stormed into a 5-2 lead. Despite a consolation break the Bryan’s won’t be adding another slam to their collection as the Spaniards won the final set 6-4 to book their place into tomorrow’s final.

The final will take place at 12:00 local time.
