Novak Djokovic’s path to his fourth Wimbledon title goes on as he eases past Adam Pavlasek with a stunning 6-2 6-2 6-1 win in his second round match.
The world number four, who was seeded number two wasn’t awaiting a compelling test, given that the Czech Republic opponent is just number 136 in the ATP ranking. In the first set Pavlasek displayed a lack of skillset. His gameplay never put Djokovic into trouble, as the Czech shows weak groundstrokes and is often forced to backspin forehands and backhands by the overwhelming baseline power of Novak. In the beginning of the second set Pavlasek displays more offensive tactics, but eventually Djokovic kept pushing from the baseline catches the set 6-2, with Pavlasek becoming more and more powerless.
The third set is a one-man show by Novak, who lost just one game and Pavlasek really looked out of Novak’s league in the match. All in all, today’s match doesn’t say much about Djokovic state of shape neither does it give perspectives on Novak about his future in the tournament, since today’s opponent was really too weak. Djokovic is waiting for either Ernests Gulbis or Juan Martin Del Potro in the next round, in an encounter that looks much more compelling.
