Garbiñe Muguruza has looked very impressive and more relaxed during her Wimbledon campaign. However if she wants to win her second grand slam she will have to overcome five time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams. Here is how Muguruza can win the Wimbledon title on Saturday:
The Second Serve
Now we all know the big hitting Spaniard has a very big first serve that can trouble any opponent, even the best returners in the game. However its the second serve that has been highly impressive at these championships and that has lead her to dictate play from the very start. If we look at the biggest second serves in the second week we can see that she has been hitting 103-106 Mph serves in the Ad court. This will be a big advantage should she keep this up in the final. As we know from Venus’ matches against Ostapenko and Konta if the second serves are weak the return is coming back with serious interest. However should the Spaniard keep within the 100-109 mph range against Venus, then this could be a huge factor heading into the final.
The Backhand

Another key shot for Muguruza tomorrow is the backhand. The backhand can be Muguruza’s greatest strengths especially the one down the line, however she can also have a lot of unforced errors on that side and can be over aggressive with the shot. In her match against Angelique Kerber on Manic Monday she hit 28 unforced errors on the backhand compared to four forced errors on that side. She will need to improve this statistic on Saturday to have any chance of lifting the trophy. She needs to stick to the gameplan and try and use that shot as a positive weapon not a negative one.
Stay Aggressive
The last time Garbiñe Muguruza and Venus Williams met it was in Rome where the Spaniard won in three sets on clay. That day she stayed close to the baseline hitting aggressive returns and dictating the match in her favour. If she wants to win her maiden Wimbledon she will need to do the same. It is easy to return deeper in the court if Venus is hitting 106 Mph second serves. However the world number 14 needs to stick to her gameplan and be aggressive make returns that are going to cause damage to Venus and stay relaxed as she plays better this way.
If Garbiñe Muguruza can do these three things successfully then we will see a new Wimbledon champion on Saturday afternoon.
