Former world No.1 Ana Ivanovic is eager to put her travelling days behind her as she starts a new life in Chicago, USA.
Ivanovic has relocated to the United States after her husband, football player Bastian Schweinsteiger, switched clubs to MLS team Chicago Fire. Schweinsteiger is only the second reigning world cup winner to play in the MLS. The 32-year-old had previously played for Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
Speaking about the move with German magazine Gala, Ivanovic enthusiastically talked about settling down in one place. The 2008 French Open champion announced her retirement from tennis last year after winning 15 WTA titles.
“This will be our first real home,” an enthusiastic Ivanovic told Gala. “I’ve always said I’m a gypsy, I’ve lived all over, so it’s very special to come back to one place.”
With her sporting career coming to an end, speculation has mounted about Ivanovic becoming pregnant. Addressing those rumors, 29-year-old said she would like to have a family, but not at the present time. Describing her tennis career as ‘long and very hard,’ she is now eager to embrace new opportunities in the future.
“I think it’s important that I have a time for myself, but I definitely want to have children in the future.” She said.
“New possibilities, for example in the beauty business, I am curious and would like to learn.”
Regarded as a power couple, Ivanovic and Schweinsteiger have a combine earnings of almost $30 million according to forbes.com. Schweinsteiger, who was the 81st highest paid athlete in 2016, signed a $4.5 million contract with Chicago Fire earlier this year.
Despite no longer playing tennis, Ivanovic is still adding silverware to her collection. Earlier this week she was named ‘beauty idol 2017’ at the Gala Spa awards in Germany.
