Happy Valley:
Peter Gojowczyk defeats Omar Jasika 63 61. An excellent week for both player saw the twenty-seven year-old German come out on top, blowing away the young Aussie for the loss of just four games. An unseeded final saw the big-serving German control matters throughout, comfortably securing the win.
Despite the defeat in the final, Jasika is this tournament’s player of the week. The nineteen year-old looks like he might finally be producing the much heralded talent that most of Australian tennis fans were hoping would come good.
Bangkok:
(5) Janko Tipsarevic defeats Blaz Kavcic 63 76. The former top ten star Tipsarevic had far too much for all comers this week, winning the title without the loss of a set. A great win for the fifth seed, and he will close to regaining the once safe Top 100 ranking that injury had so cruelly taken away. Kavcic also enjoyed a good week, and will look forward to producing that kind of tennis again as he attempts to qualify for the first Grand Slam of the year, with the Qualifying draw for the Australian Open due out later today.
Player of the week is Maximilian Marterer. The German seventh seed is the youngest German talent (after Alexander Zverev) and the twenty-one year -old can take heart from the convincing semi-final display he gave this week.
