Fabrice Santoro defeated Xavier Malisse 6-4 2-6 10-6 in the final to claim his first Champions Tour title of 2016.
The Frenchman fought hard to defeat a stubbed Xavier Malisse to take victory at the Royal Albert Hall. Santoro outlasted the likes of Tim Henman, Pat Rafter and John McEnroe to become the last man standing in London. He was pleased with his victory after the match, “This was a good match and a fun fight. The whole week has been great, I feel so privileged to play here and now win the title. It was like a dream every time I arrived on court. Hopefully I will come back!”. Malisse was dissapointed to lose the match but was in fine spirits in his post-match interview,
“This was a lot of fun, but a lot of running. Too much maybe!, I had a great week and really appreciate all the support.”
As a result of this week’s tournament in London, John McEnroe will end the year as the Champions Tour world number one ahead of James Blake and Juan Carlos Ferrero.
