Former world No. 1 Ana Ivanovic has left her fans baffled after confirming an upcoming announcement on Wednesday December 28th.
Taking to social media on Christmas day, the Serbian didn’t reveal any details about what her upcoming announcement might be. As a consequence, speculation has mounted about what she will tell her fans.
One possibility could be in regards to the start of her 2017 season. Troubled by a wrist injury throughout this year, some sources have reported that Ivanovic is set to pull out of both the ASB Classic in New Zealand and the Australian Open. The 29-year-old hasn’t played a competitive match since her first round loss to Denisa Allertova at the US Open.
Unsurprisingly, looks like Ivanovic is out of Auckland, as she is still not fully fit. Doubtful for AO.Ana *never* missed a GS in her career

Ivanovic is yet to miss a grand slam tournament in her career and has played in a major 48 consecutive times, achieving her best result in 2008 when she won the French Open at the age of 19. Since then, Ivanovic hasn’t reached the final of a grand slam tournament.
Besides the uncertainty surrounding her return to the tour, other theories have circulated about what she may say on Wednesday. As the imagination of the public run wild, rumours have circulated that Ivanovic will announce that she will undergo wrist surgery, announce a pregnancy, a change to her coaching team or even confirm the ending of her marriage. All of these wild claims have been met with no evidence to deem them valid.
Currently ranked 63rd in the world, it is the first time since 2004 that Ivanovic has ended her season outside of the world’s top 50. Hindered by injury throughout the majority of the season, she has only reached only one WTA semifinal at the St Petersburg Open in February.
Ivanovic’s announcement will be released on her Facebook page at 18:00 GMT on Wednesday.
