The upcoming Davis Cup clash is set to be an historic encounter for the winning team. Croatia will be bidding to clinch the trophy for only the second time in history and their first ever on home territory. Meanwhile, four-time runners-up Argentina is hoping to finally end their title drought.
Leading up to the final, Ubaldo Scanagatta spoke with two men who are widely known on the tennis circuit. Mike Dickson is the tennis correspondent for The Daily Mail. Praised for his coverage of British tennis, he was the recipient of the Ron Bookman Media Excellence Award earlier this year, the highest award a journalist can receive from the ATP Tour. During his video chat, Dickson evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of both teams.
Spanish journalist Manuel Poyan also shared his insight with Ubitennis. Poyan is one of the most highly regarded tennis experts in Spain and is known for his distinctive voice. Previously working for Spanish Radio and Television Corporation network RTVE, Poyan is now a prominent member of Eurosport Spain. Looking ahead to the Davis Cup final, the Spaniard explains why he thinks Croatia are the favourites for the title.
NOTE: Both interviews were conducted prior to the announcement of Borna Coric’s withdrawal and the draw.
