The last two Atp 500 events of the season will be played in Basel and Vienna next week on indoor-hard courts.
The Swiss Indoors Open in Basel, which will not have the seven times champion Roger Federer in the draw this year, had some big withdrawals in these days, as Rafael Nadal and Nick Kyrgios were forced to end their season. Croatia’s Borna Coric and Argentine’s Juan Monaco also pulled out, and Mikhail Youzhny, Talylor Fritz, Florian Mayer and Dusan Lajovic took their place. Also, German entertainer Dustin Brown withdrew from qualifying.
The only two main-draw-withdrawals so far at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna have been those of Australia’s Bernard Tomic and USA’s Sam Querrey, with Nicolas Almagro from Spain and Stephane Robert from France taking their place. Moreover, Jeremy Chardy and Jerzy Janowicz pulled out from qualifying, while Wimbledon hero Marcus Willis is set to play with a wild card.
