Former Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli has revealed that she has been diagnosed with a rare virus, which has left her fearing for life. The virus is believed to be so rare that doctors don’t even have a name for it, reports Daily Mail.
Speaking to ITV’s ‘This Morning’, Bartoli explained how the “horrendous” virus has left her struggling for survival. “My life is an absolute nightmare right now. I mean what I going through I wish it to absolutely nobody. It’s something that has been gradually going down.”
Concerns started doing the rounds after the 31-year-old was almost unrecognizable following a dramatic weight loss that saw her lose 30 kilograms. The Frenchwoman revealed that the fall off is a consequence of being able to eat just organic salad leaves and peeled cucumber.

“I’m reduced to eating organic salad leaves with cucumber without the skin, because my body can’t even process the skin,” Bartoli was quoted as saying by The Guardian. “Maybe one day my heart is going to stop, but my passion and love for life is keeping me going,” she dreaded.
This comes on the back of her snub from the Wimbledon invitational doubles on “medical” grounds. Bartoli works as a tennis commentator now, and is best known for pulling off the Ladies’ Singles crown at Wimbledon 2013 following which she called it quits.
