Damir Dzumhur overcame Nicolas Almagro 6-2 5-7 7-5 at the Konzum Croatia Open in Umag. The Bosnian player broke twice to take a 3-0 lead. Almagro recovered one of the two breaks for 1-3 but Dzumhur broke for the third time to open up a 4-1 lead en route to winning the first set 6-2.
The second set went on set until the 12th game when Almagro broke serve to love to win the second set 7-5 forcing the match to the third set.
The third set went on serve until the seventh game when Dzumhur broke serve at deuce for 4-3. Almagro broke straight back to draw level to 4-4. Dzumhur got the decisive break to 15 in the 11th game to take the win.
Dzumhur will take on Thomas Fabbiano who was leading 6-0 4-1 with three breaks in the first set and a double break in the second set as Franko Skugor was forced to withdraw from the match.
Teymuraz Gabashvili beat Nino Serdanusic 6-4 6-2 without dropping serve in the whole match. Gastao Elias fended off all seven break points in the second set to upset Guillermo Garcia Lopez 6-1 6-2. Andrej Martin came back from 0-4 down in the first set before fending off a set point to edge past Sergiy Stakhovsky 7-6 (8-6) 6-4.
Pablo Carreno Busta beat Andreas Seppi 6-4 6-4. The Spanish player broke twice at 1-1 and at 5-4 to take the first set on his first set point. Seppi went down a break to trail 1-3 in the second set but broke back in the sixth game. At 4-4 Seppi dropped his serve to 30. In the next game Carreno Busta held his service game to love with an ace at 30-0.
