Hoping to make her third appearance count, Serbia’s Ana Ivanovic has set her eyes upon winning a medal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janerio, Brazil that begin from August 5.
The 28-year-old Ivanovic could manage just a third-round finish (lost to Belgium’s Kim Clijsters) at London 2012, after pulling out of Beijing 2008 due to a thumb injury.
However, Ivanovic – a former French Open champion and World No. 1 – is looking forward to playing well this time around to accomplish her dream of bringing a medal home.
“This competition means a lot to me,” the Serb was quoted as saying by ITF Tennis. “I love representing my country and it would be a dream to bring a medal to Serbia.”
Talking about her past experiences, she said: “Beijing was hard. I was No. 1 in the world and could not play. Then in London I hit a tough draw. I hope that I can play well at Rio.”
Meanwhile, Ivanovic is currently preparing for the next week’s Wimbledon Championships.
