Roger Federer has shrugged off injury concerns as he stresses that his back injury is making recovery ahead of the prestigious Wimbledon Championships that begin from June 27.

The 34-year-old had been sidelined with an injured back that forced him to miss out on most of the first half the of season including the recently-concluded French Open 2016.

Federer kicked-off his grass campaign at the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart last week, where he struggled his way to the quarter-finals before being ousted by Dominic Thiem.

However, the Swiss superstar insists that his back is in a better shape now as he prepares to partake in a full-fledged grass court swing – which happens to be his favorite surface.

“It’s much better. I served normally last week, served a lot of aces and also quite a few into the net because I haven’t found my rhythm yet,” he told ATP World Tour.

“But at the end it was quite good. Every day that goes by is a step forward, and every match is a step forward,” added Federer, who is scheduled to defend his Halle crown this week.

The eight-time champion Federer is slated to cross the swords with 88th-ranked Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany in the first round of the ATP 500 event here.
