Novak Djokovic closed in on Roger Federer’s all-time record of 17 Grand Slam titles after the top-ranked Serb won his 12th major at the French Open last week.
This seems to have given confidence to his coach, Boris Becker, who believes that Djokovic is competent enough to taste more success at majors in the times to come.
He, however, admitted that there’s a lot more to be accomplished by the 29-year-old Serb, before he can challenge his Swiss counterpart in the record books.
“It is very likely that Djokovic will pass Federer’s Grand Slam record, but we realize that there are many tennis matches to be won if we want to do,” Becker told Sport1.
By the virtue of his recent triumph in Paris, Djokovic joined Roy Emerson at 12 Slams, and trails just Pete Sampras and Rafael Nadal (both 14) besides Federer atop the list.
