Ace American doubles tennis player Mike Bryan registered a milestone win at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle as he became just the fifth player in the history of sport to achieve 1000 career wins.
This comes after Mike, along with his twin Bob, pulled off a routine 6-2 6-3 conquest of the Belgian-French combination of David Goffin and Lucas Pouille in the first round battle on Tuesday.
By the virtue of this landmark triumph, the 38-year-old Mike turned out to be just the second doubles tennis player to have accomplished this feat after Canada’s Daniel Nestor, who did so earlier this year.
He, now, joins the elite list of most match wins (singles or doubles) that comprises of the likes of Jimmy Connors, Roger Federer, Ivan Lendl, and doubles-specialist Nestor to name the others.
The other Bryan, Bob, is also not very far away from crossing the 1000-win threshold as he remains just 14 match wins shy from the joining his brother in the history books.
Meanwhile, the top-seeded Bryans are scheduled to square-off against the Czech-Spanish pairing of Tomas Berdych and Marcel Grannolers for a place in the last-four stage of the tournament.
