Is Milos Raonic a title contender?
Milos Raonic is a former Wimbledon semifinalist, but this year there is something refreshing about his game. Working alongside John McEnroe, the Canadian looked impressive at the Aegon Championships. Reaching the final at the Queen’s Club without dropping a single service game, he lead Murray by a set and a break before losing in three sets.
Despite suffering the disappointing loss, Raonic goes to SW19 with a new found confidence.
“I think I’m doing a lot of things much better than I have done on this surface, that’s for sure,” the 25-year-old said after his loss at The Queen’s Club.
“I think I’m getting other things going as well. I think I’m constantly improving.”
Besides his lightening serve, this year has seen a significant improvement in Raonic’s movement. Choosing to move towards the net more as opposed to playing just from the baseline, the development of his game has justified why he is considered one of the best players in the world. It isn’t just Raonic’s fans that are praising him, even his competitors are starting to. World No.2 Murray spoke positively about the his Wimbledon chances.
“He’s beaten some top players in the slams. I would imagine that on the quicker courts, that he would always be there or about because of his game style and he is always willing to learn, trying to improve.” Murray said about Raonic’s Wimbledon chances.
Will Wimbledon be the event where Raonic stuns the tour?
