Back in a good shape, Juan Martin del Potro is eyeing a strong return to business as he gears up for the prestigious Wimbledon Championships that kicks-start next week.
Things have been going as planned for the Argentine after a recurring wrist injury forced him to stay away from the circuit for most of the last two seasons.
Playing in his first full-fledged grass swing since 2013, del Potro is making use of every possible course of action to make his presence felt at the All England Club, as he committed to partake at the Boodles Challenge to acclimatize to the surface conditions.
“I’m so happy to be playing tennis again, these sorts of events are amazing for the players and I’ve been here a couple of times before – it’s a great chance to prepare for Wimbledon,” said del Potro after recording an impressive 6-2 6-3 win over Croatia’s Borna Coric in his first match here.
Talking about the condition of his wrist, del Potro – who is best known for winning the 2009 US Open and the bronze medal at 2012 London Olympics – updated that even as everything seems to be normal, the doctors have suggested that it will get better with time.
“I think everything is normal, everything has gone how we expected and it will get better in the future. I’m very confident in my rehab and the doctor told me I’ll be better for sure,” he said.
