World No. 3 Agnieszka Radwanska has confirmed her participation for the next week’s Aegon Classic, a WTA Premier event in Birmingham, which serves as a tune-up heading into the prestigious Wimbledon Championships.
Radwanska, now, joins the likes of defending champion and No. 4 Angelique Kerber, former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki, No. 5 Simona Halep, No. 8 Belinda Bencic, and No. 11 Petra Kvitova among the other top players in the 32-member main draw.
“I’m really happy to be coming to Birmingham. I love to play on grass and I have heard really good things about the tournament,” said the 29-year-old Radwanska, who recently winded up the clay season with a fourth-round exit from French Open.
However, the Pole is keen on setting herself up for Wimbledon by partaking at the tournament here. “It’s important to get time on the grass and adding Birmingham to my schedule gives me the best possible preparation for Wimbledon,” she added.
The tournament is scheduled to run from June 11-19 at the Edgbaston Priory Club in Birmingham.
