Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza battled past Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina 6-1 6-7 (5-7) 10-3 to win the women’s doubles title. Hingis and Mirza built up a 6-1 5-3 lead in the second set but the Russian team fought back to win 7-5 at the tie-break. Hingis and Mirza won the Champions Tie-Break by a 10-3 scoreline. Hingis won the fourth title of her career in Rome after clinching two singles titles in 1998 and 2006 and the doubles in 1999 with Ana Kournikova. Hingis and Mirza have claimed their fifth doubles title this year after Sydney, Brisbane, the Australian Open in Melbourne and St. Petersburg and their 14th title together. They have won their first title win since the end of their 41.match winning streak in Doha last February.

US brothers Mike and Bob Bryan fought back from one set down to beat Vasek Pospisil and Jack Sock 2-6 6-3 10-7 after 71 minutes in a rain-interrupted doubles final at the Internazionali d’Italia in Rome.

Pospisil and Sock opened up a 4-0 lead en route to winning the first set 6-2. The Bryans were leading 1-0 when the match was interrupted by rain. After the match resumed, Mike and Bob got a double break to race out to a 5-1 lead, but did not convert their first break point chance.

In the Match Tie-Break Pospisil and Sock rallied from 0-5 to claw their way back to 7-8 but the US twins won the final two points to clinch their fourth title and their career 36th win at Masters 1000 level.

“I would have never thought we would have got to that number. It sounds crazy. We turned 38 last week and we are not young chicks any more. It’s nice to to get titles when we can and every one feels good”, said Bob Bryan.
