It is now official. Roger Federer won’t be taking part in the 2016 French Open in Paris. It will the first major tournament in the millennium without the Swiss at the starting blocks.
The reasons are linked to the continuous injuries the 17-time Grand Slam champion has had to deal with in the past months, which haven’t allowed Federer to play in Indian Wells, Miami and Madrid. The Swiss was seen on court on clay this year only in Rome, where he lost in the third round to Austria’s Dominic Thiem.
Here the post Roger shared on his Facebook page:
With Federer out of the tournament Rafael Nadal will now be seeded at No.4. A clash in the quarter-finals against Novak Djokovic is now officially avoided.
