Agnieszka Radwanska beat Caroline Garcia 6-2 6-4 on the Suzanne Lenglen to reach the third round at Roland Garros. The Polish star rallied from an early break in the opening game by breaking back in the next game. Radwanska broke again in the sixth and eight games to close out the first set 6-2.
Radwanska built up a 6-2 2-0 lead with a break in the second game of the second set. The 2015 WTA Finals champion raced out to a 4-1 lead but Garcia broke back in the seventh game to claw her way back to 3-4. Radwanska broke again in the eighth game but Garcia broke back for the second time for 4-5 to get within a game of drawing level. Radwanska broke again in the 10th game to close out the match in 95 minutes as Garcia made two consecutive double faults.
Radwanska has extended her lead in their head-to-head matches to 3-1. All their previous matches before today came down to the third set. Radwanska beat the French player in Madrid 2014 and Dubai 2015, while Garcia claimed her only win against the Pole in Wuhan in 2014.
Radwanska will take on Barbora Strykova who beat Polona Hercog 6-4 6-4. The Pole has never dropped a set against Strykova in all their four head-to-head matches played on hard-court.
