Karolina Pliskova cruised past 2014 finalist Ana Ivanovic 6-4 6-2 to advance to the quarter finals of the Porsche Indoor Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart.
Pliskova set up a quarter final against Agnieszka Radwanska who came back from a set down to beat Andrea Petkovic 1-6 6-1 6-2 in her debut on clay this year. Both players started with three breaks in the first three games. Pliskova was the first to break in the opening game but Ivanovic broke straight back. Pliskova broke again to take a 2-1 lead.
The Czech player was the first to hold serve in the fourth game for 3-1. Ivanovic broke back for the second time in the match to 30 to draw level to 3-3. Pliskova got her third break of the first set in the seventh game for 4-3. Pliskova held her next service games and served out for the first set with an ace.
Pliskova went up a set and a break to love in the first game of the first set. She got a double break in the third game to love to build up a 6-4 3-0 lead. Ivanovic got her first game on the scoreboard by winning her service game for 1-4 but Pliskova never looked back and served out for the match with an ace.
Petkovic got a double break in the second and sixth game to open up a 5-1 lead and served out for the first set in the next game.
Radwanska bounced back by getting a dowuble break for 2-0 and 4-0 and served out for the second set to 15 with an ace.
The Pole recovered from 30-40 to break serve at deuce in the first game of the decider. Petkovic broke back to love in the fourth game for 2-2. Radwanska got two consecutive breaks to 30 for 3-2 and 5-2 and closed out the decider after almost two hours.
