Only three matches were completed on Tuesday at the BMW Open in Munich due to rain after qualifying matches were disrupted on Sunday.
German Florian Mayer beat his compatriot Matthias Bachinger 6-4 6-4 in his second tournament after a seven-month lay-ff because of a torn right adductor tendon. Mayer made his come.back last week in Bucharest.
Mayer will face another compatriot Phillip Kohlschreiber, who received a first-round bye.
Mikhail Kukushkin was leading 6-2 3-0 as Evgeny Donskoy was forced to withdraw due to a hip injury. Kukushkin will face the winner of the match between Fabio Fognini and Maximilian Merterer who will play in the first match on Centre Court on Wednesday. Tomorrow’s schedule will then feature the match between Alexander Zverev and Malek Jaziri, which was suspended on Tuesday when the Tunisian player was leading 5-4. Jaziri beat Zverev last week in Barcelona in straight sets to reach the quarter finals in Barcelona. The Wednesday programme also features an interesting match between 2009 US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro and German Dustin Brown.
