Caroline Wozniacki is highly likely to miss the entire clay court season for the first time in her career according to sources contacted by Ubitennis.net.

The 25-year-old hasn’t played a match since her third round loss at the Miami Open due to an ankle injury she sustained during training. Earlier this month Wozniacki torn a ligament in her ankle as well as injuring two others.

Wozniacki’s manager, Mikkel Nissen, told Danish media two weeks ago that it could take the former world No.1 up to six weeks to recover. The recovery process now seems to be going slower than expected after the organizers of the Strasbourg Open confirmed that the Dane will miss the tournament. The event starts a week before the French Open on May 16th. Confirming Wozniacki’s absence on their official Twitter account, the tournament also hinted that Wozniacki could miss the French Open for the first time since 2006.

Translation – “Following her injury, Caroline Wozniacki will not be ready before the grass season and will not be to the #IS2016! Good recovery #Caro.

The unexpected post has sparked speculation about Wozniacki’s Roland Garros intentions. The world No.28 is yet to make any comment regarding her attendance at the second Grand Slam of the year. Sources working at the Strasburg Open spoke with Ubitennis about this matter. They have confirmed that it is “90% likely” they she will not be playing in Paris.

We are 100% sure that Caroline will not be in the Strasburg Open and 90% sure for French Open (RG), but not  100% sure. We must wait for an official announcement from Caroline,” the official told ubitennis.net.

Wozniacki has participated in 36 consecutive Grand Slam tournament since the 2007 French Open. Due to her absence from the tour, the 25-year-old has fallen to 28th in the world. She is now in danger of dropping out of the world’s top-30 for the first time since June 2008.
