Milos Raonic and David Goffin, who made the final and semi-final respectively in Indian Wells a week ago, have continued with their good vein of form after bookin their places in the quarter finals of the Miami Open.
The Canadian comfortably dispatched Nadal’s conqueror Damir Dzumhur 6-0, 6-3 and is yet to drop a set in the entire competition. Things will go up a notch in terms of difficulty in the next round however as he meets the enigmatic Nick Kyrgios who ousted Andrey Kuzentsov 7-6, 6-3.
As for Goffin, he ended Horacio Zeballos’ fariytale run with a 7-5, 6-3 victory and will meet a player with tremendously similar characteristics in the next round in the shape of Gilles Simon after the Frenchman thumped his compatriot Lucas Pouille 6-0, 6-1.
Another Frenchman in action today who didn’t fare as well was Richard Gasquet who was edged out by Tomas Berdych 6-4, 3-6, 7-5. The Czech will be appearing in the quarter finals for the seventh time in twelve years and will have the daunting task of going toe to toe with Novak Djokovic.
