Direction next round for Fernando Verdasco in Miami. The Spanish won in two sets (7/6(2), 6/3) against Gilles Muller. The Luxembourg played two left handed Spaniards in a row now, in Indian Wells (Nadal) and Miami (Verdasco), bad luck for him.
In the first set there was no break point to save for both players. Gilles Muller was strong at the net with beautiful volley making.
Fernando Verdasco didn’t return well to grow hopes of breaking Muller’s serve.
Nothing to do for Gilles Muller as he falls to Verdasco 7-6(2) 6-3. Had his chances to break back, but the Spaniard was solid. #MiamiOpen

The two played a tie-break in this first set. Gilles Muller started missing more and didn’t play well. Fernando Verdasco was dangerous with his forehand and made the difference with his weapon. He took the first 7/6(2).
The second set was better for Verdasco. The spanish raised his level and was more aggressive. He took the first break of the match after a bad service game from Muller to lead 3/2. Muller made 38 unforced errors today… Verdasco put the pressure at 5/3 to conclude the match on Muller’s serve.
A good start for the Spaniard here in Miami after his loss in Indian Wells against Nadal. He will play Jérémy Chardy in the next round.
