Elina Svitolina overcame a second-set loss to beat Risa Ozaki 6-1 3-6 6-0 in almost two hours. The Ukrainian player eased past Ozaki in a 24-minute first set. The first two games of the second set lasted 21 minutes before Ozaki broke serve three times to win it by 6-3 forcing the match to the decider. Svitolina won the third set with a bagel to secure her spot in the quarter final. Svitolina will face Kristina Kucova in the quarter finals.
Naomi Broady beat Zhaoxuan Yang 6-4 6-3 to reach the quarter finals. The Chinese qualifier got a double break but Broady broke back both times. Broady broke again in the 10th game to clinch the first set. In the second game converted her first break point chance. The British player faced three break point chances but she closed out the match easily to set up a quarter final against Sabine Lisicki.
Chinese qualifier Lin Zhu stunned Zarina Diyas 7-5 6-2. Zhu broke serve to win the first set by 7-5 as Diyas made a double fault. Zhu cruised to 6-2 to close out the second set in 70 minutes.
Turkey’s Cagla Buyakackay beat Taipei’s Kai Chen Chang 7-5 6-3 in 90 minutes in a match which featured seven break. The Turkish player wil face sixth seed Eugenie Bouchard in he quarter final.
