In the first set Stanislas Wawrinka didn’t played well, slow in the leg and David Goffin started the match on the right way. Very aggresive inside the court.
Both players won their serves until 2/2. At this moment Goffin took the break with a high tennis level. He took the break again at 4/2 and had to serve for the first set.
A little stress to conclude for Goffin and Stan the Man came back from one break.
But not good with his serve, Wawrinka lost it at 5/3, first set David Goffin !
A sensation with this result, the Swiss had to react in the second set. But it was not the case. No amelioration in his game and David Goffin was the better player on the court. The Belgian quickly lead 4/0 with two breaks in the pocket. The match was almost over but Stan is a great champion, with a big mental. He never give up and step by step he came back in the match.
Wawrinka won two times Goffin service and was at 3/4 against him, no break late.
But he spent too much energy and lost his serve again. The Belgian had to serve for the match.
As in the first set, Goffin didn’t serve well and lost his serve. A great occasion for Wawrinka to take the lead for the first time in the set (6/5). At this moment he put pressure on Goffin, a very good tactics. Wawrinka won the second set 7/5, an incredible scenario.
In the third set, Goffin was on fire at the beginning. The Belgian took the break and quickly lead 3/0. A surprise after the Swiss domination at the end of the second set.
At 5/2 for him, Goffin slow down and his opponent came back in the match (5/5), same scenario that is the second set. The Belgian had to regret some occasions in this set.
Both players had to play a tie-break for the match.
Wawrinka led 4/2, but bad end of tie-break for him. After a forehand error, he gave a match point to Goffin at 5/5. Stan made a very ugly easy smash, incredible for him at this key moment.
