The 19-years old Borna Coric captured the win for Croatia by beating Kimmer Coppejans of Belgium 7-6(5) 6-2 6-2. After outing the 2015 finalist, Croatia will in July face the United States of America.
First set was really competitive, Coppejans unlocked his potential and played really inspired tennis, matching Coric’s level. Despite many deuces and long dramatic games, there was only one break point and no breaks. The tiebreak was very level as well, and there was only one set point and Coric took it. Coric kept a very good level, while Coppejans started to fall back, making an error after error. Coric was not giving away any points and only made 7 unforced errors in the second set. He got two back-to-back breaks and took the match away from Coppejans. Coric kept on playing great tennis in the third set, losing only 5 points on serve.
