A little surprise today at Rotterdam. Number seed 4 David Goffin lost against a great Marcos Baghdatis in three tight sets (6/1, 4/6, 7/6(5)) in 2h20 minutes.
For his first match with his new coach Tomas Johansson, David Goffin was totally lost on the court during the first set. He faced a hard opponent for him because Baghdatis lead 3-0 in the head to head on hard court.
The Cyprus was playing perfectly at the begining and took the oppening set 6/1, a surprise.
In the second set the game was more tight with a David Goffin very agressive. A good tactics for him to come back in the game. At 6/5 for Goffin he defended well with a longline backhand passing shot to take the second set.

Not happy to play a third set, Marcos Baghdatis accelerated and did the forcing to take the lead and the break. As always the Belgian didn’t give up and played again more aggressive. He came back just after losing his serve.
A tie-break would have to take a winner. David Goffin began very well and was at two points of the win (5/2). But a fantastic Baghdatis won five points in a row to win this amazing match between two great players.
In the next round, here in Rotterdam, the Cyprus will meet the winner of the match between Tommy Robredo and Martin Klizan.
