USA confirmed their position of a favorite over the weakened Polish team. Venus was the one to win the third point, and the team of Mattek-Sands and Vandeweghe continued the USA streak of never losing a Fed Cup rubber to Poland

The first chance to end this tie was in the match between Venus Williams and Magda Linette. The conditions were quite the opposite of yesterday, when it was sunny and warm. Today was a cloudy and windy day in Hawaii, making it Venus+Williams+2015+Wuhan+Open+Day+6+7dPiHlQDlQWldifficult for both players. Though Venus still had her left thigh taped, she had much better movement and serve than yesterday, which was good to see. Beginnings of both sets were pretty close, but after Williams got a break in the fourth and third game respectively, she just took the match away from her. Venus was just clearly several levels above Linette in terms of power and game, her average shot was around 20 kilometers per hour faster than the Pole’s. Linette tried the tactic with which she had some success against Sloane, putting the balls back, making her opponent hit an extra shot, but Venus had the power to just hit through her opponent.

Venus Williams (USA) – Magda Linette (POL) 6-1 6-2

There was also a dead doubles rubber played to end the tie, between the teams of the World No. 6 in doubles, Bethanie Bethanie+Mattek+Sands+2016+Australian+Open+iM1X3rfwjSilMattek-Sands with the Australian Open Mixed Doubles finalist Coco Vandeweghe against the Polish playing Fed Cup captain Klaudia Jans-Ignacik and Paula Kania. What makes this match interesting that this will be one of the first times Mattek-Sands and Vandeweghe play together. They could be one of the two teams that will represent the United States at the Rio Olympics.  USA got an early break at 2-1 and really got in the game. Strong returns, often crossing at the net was really effective against the Polish team and ended the first set on Mattek-Sands’ serve, 6-1. Poland came out strong in the second set, got use to the play of Vandeweghe and Mattek-Sands and thing looked really well for them. Both teams were exceptionally strong on the return, but Americans were stronger on serve. The visibly weakest server on court was Paula Kania, and she was the one who had an oppurtunity to serve the match out at 5-3. From then it was just Team USA winning 4 games in a row, with Coco Vandeweghe ending the match with an ace.
