Roger Federer has lost the final of the ATP of Brisbane in straight sets to Milos Raonic, but decided to see the glass half full, taking mostly the positive out of his loss.
At the start of the tournament, it seemed the Swiss wasn’t going to be playing after all in Brisbane, as he was suffering from a viral flu. Roger was helped by the tournament’s organisers, who pushed his debut day to Thursday, thus allowing the World No.3 to step on court and play.
“I do still cough and have a sore throat. As long as I keep on playing and do all those things it won’t get better, therefore tomorrow I will take it to rest. The good thing is that withing 3 or 4 days I should be back at feeling 100%” told the Swiss to the media in Brisbane after the final.
“I am surprised of how well this week went, because I wasn’t feeling healthy. In relation to my pulse, I feel strong again, because I was feeling weak most of the week. My legs felt heavy. Next week becomes very important for the Australian Open. I should try and be able to get top fit again. I am very happy, even though I know it sounds strange that I am so positive after losing a final” said the 17-time Grand Slam champion to the Swiss journalists.
In Melbourne Roger doesn’t defend many points, having lost in the third round to Andreas Seppi 12 months ago.
