Milos Raonic has confirmed that he has formed a coaching collaboration with Spanish former world No.1 Carlos Moya.
A position in Raonic’s team has been vacant since November after the Canadian stopped working with Ivan Ljubicic. During a recent interview with The Courier Mail, the world No.14 said that he wasn’t planning on making any new additions to his coaching team for the ‘foreseeable future’. Despite the recent comments, Raonic has surprisingly announced on his Instagram account that he will start working with Moya in Melbourne.
Since retiring from the sport in 2010 due to a foot injury, Moya has maintained his involvement in tennis. He experienced a brief period as the Spanish Davis Cup captain before resigning in 2014 following his team’s relegation from the world group.
Raonic has started his 2016 season at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship this week. At the event he produced a duo of wins over Kevin Anderson and top seed Stan Wawrinka to reach the final. In the final on Saturday he will play second seed Rafael Nadal.
There is currently no information regarding how the partnership between the two men will work and if the collaboration will be long-term or short-term.
