Shenzhen Open over America’s Alison Riske: 6-3, 6-2. This is the 18th WTA title for Radwanska who has won 22 of her 26 matches (including four titles) since the US Open. Radwanska will rise to fourth in the world rankings (moving ahead of Maria Sharapova) giving her a top four seed at the Australian Open, which starts on January 18.
Radwanska continued her fine form playing brilliant tennis, winning 68% of her service points compared to 54% for Riske. The Pole capitalized on four of seven break point chances and saved the two break points she faced. Although she came up short in the final, Riske said “It was a wonderful week for me.” She should enjoy a jump in the rankings with the 180 finalist points (Riske is currently ranked 97). The twenty-five year old American has one WTA Tour level title – Tianjin in 2014.
The Polish star will play in Sydney next week and Riske will play at Hobart.
