Thanasi Kokkinakis

Finally Thanasi Kokkinakis is seeking to return back to his best at the start of 2016 after enduring a disappointing second part of this year. Since retiring from the US Open in September due to an leg injury, the 19-year-old has only won one match on the tour. Despite the recent woes, the two-time Grand Slam junior finalist is still a bright prospect for Australian tennis.

There has been highs in 2015 for Kokkinakis. In May he claimed his first Challenger title at the Bordeaux Open, defeating Thiemo de Bakker in the final. The Australian then reached the third round of the French Open before losing to world No.1 Novak Djokovic. He has achieved a win-loss this season of 18-19.

One of the key issues facing Kokkinakis in 2016 will be his physical performance. He  will once again start working with Andrew Rondinelli, who he also worked with during 2013. Rondinelli will work with the Australian for 40 weeks next year to focus on his strength and training.

The first half of 2016 will be crucial for Kokkinakis. If he continues his recent run of early exits, the 19-year-old could be in danger of dropping out of the top 100. Currently he is 80th in the world. 2016 could be a make or break year for him.
