Alexander Zverev
Since his shock run to the semi-finals of the 2014 International German Open there has been a lot of expectation placed on Alexander Zverev. The 18-year-old has been able to demonstrated the talent he has on the tour this year but only at certain tournaments. The German’s best results on the tour this year was claiming his second pro title at the Heilbronn Challenger and reaching the semifinals of the Bastad Open in Sweden. At the Wimbledon championships Zverev won his first Grand Slam main draw match after beating Teymuraz Gabashvili in the first round.
Zverev is currently the youngest player rankled inside the top 100 and was recognised for his achievements after being presented with the ‘ATP Star of Tomorrow‘ award. The German has also been praised by other players on the tour. During the Stockholm Open world No.6 Tomas Berdych spoke highly of Zverev ahead of playing him for the first time at the tournament.
“He is a good kid, he is very talented and i think he has a bright future ahead of him.” Berdych said.
“He has all the aspects to be a good player”. He added.
Zverev is currently ranked 83rd in the world. He doesn’t have many points to defend during the first three months of 2016, giving him an prime opportunity of rise in the rankings towards the top 50 if he is able to produced a series of solid results.
