The Singapore Slammers beat the Micromax Indian Aces 26-21 in the final of the 2015 International Tennis Premier League to clinch the IPTL title at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The final between the Slammers and the Aces ended three exciting weeks of tennis across five different venues. The Indian Aces topped the overall standing after winning eight of their 11 matches, while the Slammers clinched seven matches
Carlos Moya got of to a winning start in the men’s legends singles beating Fabrice Santoro 6-4. Belinda Bencic edged Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-5 (7-3) after a tight shoot-out in the women’s singles to give the Slammers a 12-9 lead.
Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza clinched the only set for the Indian Aces beating Dustin Brown and Karolina Pliskova 6-2 in the mixed doubles. Thanks to this win the Indian Aces took overall lead with 15-14.
Singapore Slammers’ Stan Wawrinka saw off Bernard Tomic 6-3 in the men’s singles to give the Slammers a 20-18 lead before the final set.
The Aces needed a 6-3 win to win the IPTL title. However, Wawrinka and Melo got an early break of serve to take a 3-0 lead en route to winning the set with 6-3 over Rohan Bopanna and Ivan Dodig.
