The long awaited return of Juan Martin Del Potro to the tour appears to be delayed until February according to reports.

At the start of the month during a press conference with the organizers of the Australian Open, it was confirmed that Del Potro was on the entry list for the event. The attendance of the former US Open champion at the event has now been dismissed by media sources in Argentina. Radio Continental journalist Guille Caporaletti have reported that the Australian Open will be too soon for Del Potro and the 27-year-old will instead comeback to the tour in February during the indoor season. The report has also been reported by New York Times journalist Christopher Clarey.

During his rehabilitation period Del Potro has been working with his childhood coach Marcelo Gomez. He is currently looking for a new coach to work with after parting ways with Franco Davin earlier this year. Last month in an interview with Ahora Desportes, the 27-year-old have insisted that he is in no hurry to find a new coach.

“For coaches I’m in no hurry, I know how I have to train and take care. There are some names given, but without haste the most important thing is to return to the court and play a couple of tournaments and then see.” Del Potro said.

Due to a series of operations and setbacks regarding his wrist, Del Potro has only been able to play in four tournaments since February 2014. Despite the problems the Argentine is still committed to returning to the tour, publicly documenting his recovery process on social media.
