World No.24 Gael Monfils has pulled out of the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) due to injury.
The Frenchman was playing alongside players such as Sam Stosur and Fabrice Santoro for the Micromax Indian Aces. According to go-tennis.fr, Monfils injured his thigh, which forced him to withdraw from exhibition event. In a video posted on the Twitter account of the IPTL. Monfils said that he suffered the injury whilst in action against the Japanese Warriors.

On the opening day of the IPTL Monfils played two sets for the Indian Aces against the Japanease Warriors. Teaming up with Rohan Bopanna in the men’s doubles they defeated Kei Nishikori and Pierre-Hugues 6-4. Then straight after he played in the men’s singles against Kei Nishikori, losing 4-6.
Despite ending the year with a positive win-loss of 34-18. Monfils has failed to win a title this year on the ATP Tour. He reached one final this year at the Open 13 in France, where he lost in three sets to Gilles Simon. He also reached the semi-final at six other ATP Tournaments, including the Monte Carlo Masters in April.
The Frenchman will be replaced by Ivan Dodig in the Indian Aces team. The 30-year-old Croat is currently ranked 87th in the world and has won three Challenger titles this year on the tour.
