David Ferrer is ready to start the new season at the upcoming Mubadala World Tennis Championships, the traditional curtain-raiser to the tennis year which starts on 31st December. Ferrer has enjoyed a successful 2015 season in which he won five titles in Doha, Rio de Janeiro, Acapulco, Kuala Lumpur and Vienna
Ferrer is one of the six stars who will take part in the Mubadala World Tennis Championships alongside Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka, Kevin Anderson, Milos Raonic and Jo Wilfried Tsonga. Ferrer played in the Mubadala Tournament final twice losing to Novak Djokovic on both occasions in 2012 and 2014.
“I am really looking forward to getting ready to Abu Dhabi and checking out some of the sights before the tournament. I have been out a number of times before so I know what to expect and it’s all positive. The reception from the crowd is always fantastic. The playing conditions are incredible and the overall atmosphere is one of celebration, so it’s going to be a lot of fun. The great thing about Abu Dhabi are the sports fans who always make me feel very welcome. I am looking forward to meeting them at Yas Mall. I hope there will be a lot of Spanish flags to support me.”, said Ferrer.
Ferrer will face a very busy schedule next January which features Abu Dhabi, Doha (where he will defend the title won in 2015), Auckland in the build-up to the Australian Open.
“I want to be a danger to everyone in the most important tournaments. Playing a lot will help me to find the right rhythm”, said Ferrer.
