Borna Coric Set To Form Coaching Agreement With Miles Maclagan

Croatian tennis sensation Borna Coric is currently formulating an agreement to work with British coach Miles Maclagan according to a report.

The Daily Mail’s tennis reporter, Mike Dickson, has revealed that the British coach is currently in Zagreb with Coric. Maclagan is a former tennis player and has coached a list of tennis stars since his retirement. Between 2007-2010 he worked with Andy Murray for two-and-a-half years. Since his collaboration with Murray, the 41-year-old has also worked with Philipp Kohlschreiber, Marcos Baghdatis, Laura Robson and Sam Stosur.

Last month it was confirmed that Coric has parted ways with Thomas Johansson, who has coached him since April. The 2015 season has been a mixed experiance for the 19-year-old, who only title of the year occurred at the ATP Barranquilla Challenger in Colombia. On the tour this year he has achieved a win-loss of 31-28. The youngster started this year impressively after after he reached the semifinal of the ATP Doha Open in February, defeating Andy Murray in the quarter-finals. He also reached the quarter-final at four other events on the ATP World Tour. Despite some encouraging results, the Croat has endured a series of disappointing results at the end of his season. Since claiming the title in Barranquilla in September, Coric has only won two matches on the tour.

There is yet to be any formal announcement regarding the new collaboration between Coric and Mclagan. Mclagan will be Coric’s 3rd coach within the past year. Prior to his work with Swedish coach Thomas Johansson, Coric started 2015 with Željko Krajan. Krajan stopped working with the youngster to spend more time with his family.

The 19-year-old is currently ranked 44th in the world, 11 places before his career ranking high. He will start his 2016 season at the Aircel Chennai Open in India. He is scheduled to be the 8th seed in the event which starts on January 4th.
