The Main Draw of the last Master 1000 of the year at the brand new Accorhotel Arena (the new name of the Palais Omnisport) in Paris Bercy took place on Friday in the French capital on Friday evening. Defending champion Novak Djokovic could face Tomas Berdych in the quarter finals before a possible semifinal against either Rafa Nadal or this year’s Roland Garros champion Stan Wawrinka. The tournament will take place in the renovated Accorhotel Arena in Paris Bercy. The Palais Ombisport was renovated this year and will be a modern arena with cutting-edge technology. Reception coditions for players have been considerably improved.
World Number 2 Andy Murray could meet Kei Nishikori in the quarter finals before a potential semifinal clash against either Roger Federer or 2012 Paris Bercy champion David Ferrer.
Djokovic will open against either Phillip Kohlschreiber or Thomas Bellucci in the second round before a possible clash against either Gael Monfils or Giles Simon.
Number 5 seed Tomas Berdych could face a very tough second round match against “ace king” Ivo Karlovic before meeting number 9 seed Jo Wilfried Tsonga, who reached the final in Shanghai.
In the second quarter of the draw number 4 seed Stan Wawrinka will make his debut against the winner of the first- round between Fabio Fognini and in-form Bernard Tomic, who reached his second Master 1000 quarter final of his career in Shanghai. In the third round the Swiss player could play against number 15 seed Feliciano Lopez who may face this week’s Basel semifinalist Jack Sock
Wawrinka could square off against Nadal in a re-match of the recent Shanghai quarter finals. Nadal could face a tough third round against Kevin Anderson.
The potential semifinal clash in the top-half could be Djokovic vs Nadal
In the third quarter third-seed Roger Federer will start in the second round against either Andreas Seppi (who beat the Swiss legend at the Australian Open) or Pablo Cuevas, who finished runner-up to Federer last May in Istanbul. Federer’s possible rival in the third round is John Isner. Federer is on collision course for a potential quarter final against David Ferrer, who won the title in Paris Bercy in 2012 beating Jerzy Janowicz in the final.
Federer’s possible opponent in the semifinal in the bottom half could be Andy Murray tops the fourth quarter of the draw. The Scotsman could meet either Fernando Verdasco or Borna Coric in the second round. Coric beat Murray last February at Dubai. The third round could be highlighted by a possible clash between Murray and David Goffin in a preview of this year’s Davis Cup Final between Great Britain and Belgium scheduled in Ghent from 27th to 29th November.
Murray’s potential rival in the quarter final could be either Kei Nishikori or Richard Gasquet, who reached the semifinal in Basel.
