Marcin Matkowksi and Nenad Zimonjic have ensured that they will be amongst the sixteen players taking to the court in the doubles event at the ATP World Tour Finals in London.
The achievement is an excellent one given that the pair only started playing together in Indian Wells. Their season has been one of consistent performances, reaching three finals, and five semi-finals, though they have not won a tour title this year.
Both are veterans of the World Tour Finals. Nestor has won the event twice, in 2008 and 2010, both times partnering Daniel Nestor. He will be making his eighth appearance at the year-end finals. Matkowski will be making his seventh appearance, with his best performance a runner-up display in 2011 alongside Mariusz Fyrstenberg.
Six other teams have already qualified, with Bryan/Bryan, Rojer/Tecau, Murray/Peers, in their last tournament as partners, Dodig/Melo, Bolelli/Fognini, and Herbet/Mahut are all confirmed for London.
The final place is yet to be decided, with Bopanna/Mergea in the final qualification place as it stands. Peya/Soares and Sock/Pospisil have an outside chance of qualifying.
