35 year-old Venus Williams displayed some of her best tennis, which was also on show at the US Open, to knock out number ten seed and last week’s champion in Tokyo, Agnieszka Radwanska 6-1, 7-6.
Despite being unseeded this week in China, Williams came out of the blocks sprinting as she powered away to a 5-0 lead which left her opponent in a daze. Radwanska was also suffering physically as she took a medical timeout for treatment on her let hip which seemed to work magic as she took Williams all the way to a tie break which fell the American’s way 7-4.
Williams who fired a whopping 51 winners past Radwanska will try keep up her red hot form in the next round where she meets Julia Goerges.
