World number 18 Madison Keys has been forced to withdraw from the WTA Coupe Banque Nationale due to injury.
Keys was the top seed in the tournament and was scheduled to play Anna Tatishvili in the first round. The 20-year-old confirmed on her Twitter account that she has withdrawn due an injury to her wrist. She said the injury occurred during a recent practice session.

Keys currently has a win-loss this season of 27-15. At the US Open she defeated Agnieszka Radwanska in the third round to reach the last sixteen. The American has experienced a high amount of success in the Grand Slam tournaments this year. She reached the semi-final of the Australian Open at the start of the year and made the quarter-finals at Wimbledon. On the other hand Keys has enjoyed less success outside of the four main tournaments. Her best result on the WTA Tour was runner-up at the Family Circle Cup in Charleston.
Following Keys withdraw, the highest ranked player left in the tournament is defending champion Mirjana Lučić-Baroni. The Croat won her first title in sixteen years at last year’s tournament, which broke a WTA record for the longest gap between titles on the tour.
