After the media scandal generated by Kyrgios’ words on Wawrinka’s girlfriend, Donna Vekic, ATP has decided to take some decisions.
Starting from next January players will need to pay a lot more attention to what they say both on and off-court. One of the new rules will indeed forbid any conduct that is contrary to the integrity of the game. This means that no personal public statement can be made regarding a person or a group of people, a tournament, a sponsor or an ATP official.
Among the new set of rules, there is also the requirement of gym facilities during the course of a tournament and of a defibrillator on-court, to be used in no more than 3 minutes from the time of the request.
The last rule regards the number of wild cards a tournament can grant, which will drop from four to two.
