The focus of the Women’s draw for the upcoming US Open is based around one player, Serena Williams. The world number one has lost only two matches in 2015 as she bids to become the first woman since 1988 to win all four Grand Slams within the same year. If she wins the historic title, Williams will also be the first woman to win the US Open for a fourth consecutive time since Chris Evert in 1978.

With a lot of history resting on Williams performance in Flushing Meadows, players from both the Men’s and Women’s draw have pledged their support behind Williams.

“I am sending her good vibes, I hope she does it. She’s a true champion and she’s impressive what she’s managed to do so far at her age to win three Grand Slams”.
Novak Djokovic

“If I will not be in the finals, then I want her to win. If I’m in the finals with her, then I want to win. I said that because she has a big chance to win all four Grand Slams this year. I think she has enough power to do that, but of course I want to win. I just want to take it match-by-match”.
Simona Halep

“Yeah, I hope she does it. It’s intriguing and interesting to see, you don’t get this kind of an opportunity many times in your career, or in tennis, for that matter, so it will be very interesting to follow”.
Roger Federer

“I respect everything Serena has done in her career. She is obviously a great player, a great person, and a great champion. What she is about to do and what she has done for the sport is amazing. I am in the other half of the draw, so I don’t have to worry about it until the final. Hopefully, we can do a rerun from last year”.
Caroline Wozniacki

Williams will play world number 86 Vitalia Diatchenko in the first round. The American will play is her 15th US Open main draw and she currently has a win-loss in Flushing Meadows of 79-9 (90% winning rate). The 33-year-old has already won five tournaments this year, including the first three Grand Slams. The last time Williams lost a Grand Slam match was in the third round of the 2014 Wimbledon championships against Alize Cornet.
